Rwanda Signs Cooperation Agreement with Hongqiao Overseas Chinese Business Association
On the sidelines of the China International Import Expo (CIIE 2025) in Shanghai, the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) signed a cooperation agreement with the Hongqiao Overseas Chinese Business Association Expo and Trade Promotion Center.
The agreement will boost cooperation in investment, trade, and technology between Rwanda and China. It also provides a platform to attract more Chinese investors to Rwanda, promote Rwandan products in China, and support technology transfer to advance Rwanda’s industrial and digital growth.
According to RDB, the partnership establishes a structured framework to facilitate smoother investment collaboration between Rwandan and Chinese enterprises.
It is expected to drive new investment, particularly in manufacturing, renewable energy, ICT, and tourism, contributing to Rwanda’s sustainable economic development.
In addition, the agreement opens opportunities for Rwandan businesses to showcase and market their products including coffee, tea, and value-added minerals at Chinese trade platforms such as the Hongqiao Expo, increasing visibility and access to potential business partners.
The cooperation also includes provisions for knowledge and technology exchange, aimed at enhancing Rwanda’s industrial capabilities and promoting a knowledge-based economy.
The Hongqiao Overseas Chinese Business Association, which connects Chinese enterprises operating worldwide, expressed its commitment to help its members explore investment opportunities in Rwanda, citing the country’s stability, pro-investment policies, and dynamic economic growth.
