The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), General MK Mubarakh, today received a delegation of students and faculty members from India’s National Defence College at RDF Headquarters in Kigali. The visit is part of a week-long study tour of Rwanda that began on 1 June 2026.

During the meeting, General Mubarakh expressed appreciation to the National Defence College of India and highlighted the strong and growing partnership between Rwanda and India.

“Your presence here reflects the strong and growing partnership between Rwanda and India, a relationship founded on mutual respect, friendship, and a shared commitment to peace, security, and development,” he said.

He further noted that the long-standing cooperation between the two countries has significantly benefited the Rwanda Defence Force, particularly through training and education opportunities for RDF officers in India’s renowned military institutions.

General Mubarakh also underscored RDF’s readiness to explore further areas of cooperation, especially as Rwanda moves toward operationalizing its National Defence University.

On behalf of the delegation, Brigadier Rajneesh Mohan, Secretary of the National Defence College of India, thanked the RDF for the warm reception. He said the study tour had provided valuable insights into Rwanda’s military professionalization, its contribution to regional and international security, and its broader national transformation journey. The delegation is expected to conclude its study tour on 6 June 2026.
