The Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, is in Rwanda for a working visit aimed at strengthening military cooperation and exchanging views on defence and security matters between the two countries.

His visit, which runs from 4 to 7 November 2025, highlights the growing partnership between Rwanda and Kenya.

On Wednesday, General Kahariri and his delegation visited the Ministry of Defence and the Rwanda Defence Force Headquarters, where they were received by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Minister of Defence. The discussions focused on reviewing existing defence cooperation frameworks, exploring new areas of collaboration, and sharing insights on regional and international security challenges.

During his visit, General Kahariri toured the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where he paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and reflected on Rwanda’s journey of resilience and recovery.

He also visited the Campaign Against Genocide Museum, describing the experience as “always overwhelming.” He added: “The determination and valour displayed by the Rwandan Patriotic Front to save the country embodies the spirit all defence forces should emulate.”

The visit underscores the continued partnership between the two East African nations in promoting peace, stability, and professional military cooperation in the region.
