Rwanda strengthens Africa–Korea cooperation at Senior Officials meeting in Seoul

Rwanda took part in a Senior Officials’ Meeting held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, as part of preparations for the 2026 Africa–Korea Foreign Ministers’ Meeting scheduled to take place later this year.


Rwanda was represented by Mr. Virgile Rwanyagatare, Director General in charge of Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between African countries and the Republic of Korea, with emphasis on enhancing partnerships across key sectors and aligning priorities ahead of the ministerial meeting.

Rwanda highlighted its continued commitment to deepening relations with Korea, particularly in trade, investment, innovation-driven technology, and sustainable development.

The engagement builds on years of strong cooperation between the two sides, with the Republic of Korea remaining a key development partner for Rwanda in various sectors, including technology, education, youth empowerment, and industrial development.

The Seoul meeting also provided a platform for participants to exchange views on new opportunities for Africa–Korea collaboration aimed at promoting economic growth, job creation, and sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships between the two regions.
