RDF leadership values highlighted at RSSB Senior Management Retreat
Senior leaders at the Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) on Thursday engaged in discussions focused on strengthening leadership, accountability, and citizen-centred service delivery during a leadership retreat held at Kigali Golf Resort and Villas in Nyarutarama.
The retreat brought together RSSB senior management alongside several government leaders, including the Minister of Health, Dr Sabin Nsanzimana, the Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, and the Deputy Defence Spokesperson of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Lt Col Simon Kabera.
The discussions focused on RSSB’s strategic priorities and its ambition to become a truly member-centric and citizen-centred institution.
During the panel session, participants explored leadership approaches and institutional values that contribute to effective public service delivery and long-term public trust.
Speaking during the retreat, Lt Col Kabera shared insights into the principles that have enabled the RDF to become one of Rwanda’s most trusted institutions. He explained that the RDF has maintained public confidence through consistent service, professionalism, discipline, integrity, and accountability.
He noted that clearly defined responsibilities, measurable objectives, and continuous performance evaluation have played a major role in strengthening the institution and ensuring operational effectiveness.
Lt Col Kabera further emphasized that values such as patriotism, teamwork, professionalism, and integrity remain central to the RDF’s day-to-day operations and decision-making processes. According to him, institutions that consistently uphold strong values are better positioned to achieve sustainable success and public trust.
He also encouraged RSSB leaders to draw inspiration from the leadership and vision of President Paul Kagame, stressing the importance of leading by example, promoting accountability, strengthening teamwork, and fostering a sense of ownership in achieving institutional goals.
The two-day retreat is expected to help RSSB leadership reflect on ways to improve service delivery and strengthen its mission of serving members and citizens more effectively.
