Rwanda and Brazil have signed agreements establishing a clear framework for cooperation in trade, investment, and collaboration across multiple sectors.

The agreements were signed on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, during the Rwanda-Brazil Economic Cooperation Forum, a platform aimed at boosting economic ties between the two countries.

Rwanda was represented by Jean-Guy Afrika, Director General of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), while Brazil was represented by Jorge Viana of APEX-Brazil, the country’s trade and export promotion agency.

These agreements formalize and expand existing friendly relations between Rwanda and Brazil, covering trade promotion, investment facilitation, business travel, and joint initiatives across various sectors.

In addition to government-level agreements, APEX-Brazil signed a partnership deal with Rwanda’s Private Sector Federation, represented by its CEO, Stephen Ruzibiza.

Jean-Guy Afrika highlighted the complementary strengths of the two countries:

"Rwanda and Brazil are both emerging economies with great potential. Brazil brings global expertise in agriculture, industry, and energy, while Rwanda offers a safe investment environment, a strategic location for East and Central African markets, and a rapidly growing services sector."

Brazil’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Irene Vida Gala, encouraged Brazilian investors to explore opportunities in Rwanda, describing the forum as a major step toward deepening bilateral cooperation.

The forum, jointly organized by RDB and APEX-Brazil, aims to expand trade, investment, and private sector collaboration.

The forum brought together Brazilian investors, showcasing investment opportunities in Rwanda and reinforcing strong economic ties between the two countries.
