"Quality is Key to Rwanda’s Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness" PM Dr. Nsengiyumva
Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva has emphasized that quality in trade is central to sustainable development, enabling businesses to thrive, fostering innovation, strengthening resilience against climate change, and providing long-term solutions to global challenges.
Speaking at the official opening of the ISO Annual Meeting 2025 in Kigali, Dr. Nsengiyumva said the conference is an important platform for ISO member countries and partners to exchange knowledge, improve collaboration, and reinforce the value of promoting quality worldwide. “Being here this week is proof of your commitment to continuously advancing quality at the international level,” he added.
He explained that Rwanda’s focus on quality has strengthened the country’s economy, allowing it to perform effectively both regionally and internationally. “It has helped our economy compete successfully within the region and on the global stage,” he said.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Rwanda’s development is rooted in a collaborative vision, which has built a solid national foundation. “Through this approach, the international community can achieve much when our knowledge, capacity, and determination are combined to address the challenges we face,” he noted.
Dr. Nsengiyumva warmly welcomed all participants to the ISO Annual Meeting, highlighting Kigali as a symbol of resilience, renewal, and international cooperation. “Welcome to Kigali, a city that embodies perseverance, rebuilding, and global collaboration. Make yourselves at home, and I encourage you to use this opportunity to explore Rwanda’s natural beauty during your stay,” he said.
The Prime Minister also underscored that quality supports trade, promotes innovation, strengthens economic resilience, and provides sustainable solutions to global problems. “This conference is a platform for ISO member countries and partners to share knowledge, improve collaboration, and enhance mutual agreement on the value of quality,” he stated.
ISO President Dr. Sung Hwan Chu said the meeting aims to advance quality standards that facilitate cross-border trade and build trust among member countries. “This gathering is an important platform to promote quality and share knowledge and collaboration,” he noted.
The ISO Annual Meeting 2025, themed “United for Impact”, brings together government representatives, international organization leaders, major corporations, quality regulators, consumer protection organizations, research institutions, and civil society representatives.
The forum is recognized globally as a key platform for decision-makers, innovators, and stakeholders to improve products, services, and business processes through international quality standards.
