On Saturday, Feb 14, 2026, Prime Minister Dr. Nsengiyumva Justin met with Dr. Richard Hatchett, CEO of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), to discuss ways to enhance Rwanda and Africa’s ability to prevent and respond to epidemics.


The discussions focused on advancing medical research, establishing necessary regulatory frameworks, and accelerating the production and delivery of vaccines in the event of sudden outbreaks.

The meeting reflects a shared commitment to strengthening regional capacity for rapid response and effective epidemic management.

Prime Minister Nsengiyumva was in Ethiopia attending the African Union Heads of State and Government meeting on Feb 14–15, 2026.

Ahead of the AU discussions, he emphasized the importance of global cooperation in epidemic preparedness and the role of science and innovation in safeguarding public health.

This Sunday, Feb 15, 2026, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the African Union High-Level Ad Hoc Committee on South Sudan, aimed at finding political solutions at the continental level and promoting peace and stability in the region.
