Members of Unity Club Intwararumuri carried out an initiative to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026 to 58 Intwaza parents (6 elderly men and 52 elderly women) living at the Impinganzima Home in Nyanza District.

The event was attended by members of AVEGA Agahozo, IBUKA, various local leaders from Nyanza District, partners, and neighbors.

In a welcome speech, MINUBUMWE’s representative, Mr. Rutayisire Théonèste, noted that the President of Rwanda established the Intwaza Home at Impinganzima on July 3, 2015. This year, the home celebrates its 10th anniversary, hosting 58 parents from different districts across the country.

This year, the Intwaza parents also supported the school feeding program, sponsoring 20 children per term, and contributed to health insurance for 33 residents.

KAREKEZEZI Eugène, a parent representing others, said: “Please feel our joy because this country is ours. As Intwaza, we are committed to:

  • Contributing to national development
  • Caring for young children
  • Maintaining good relationships with our neighbors
  • Being a model household

Keeping a notebook of commitments and regularly reviewing whether we achieve them.”

Karekezi concluded by thanking President Paul Kagame for enabling them to reach ages they once thought impossible, saying: “In the past, it was said no one would reach a hundred years, but we will surpass that. This is thanks to a great country and the daily care we receive, some of which begets more life. What you see on the outside is less important than the peace we feel in our hearts.”

The parents ended the year in peace, proud of their contribution to national development and the promotion of Rwandan values.
