Rwanda Police wins medal at 2026 UAE SWAT Challenge
A Rwanda National Police (RNP) team secured a medal at the 2026 UAE SWAT Challenge, an international tactical competition that brings together elite police units from across the globe.
The five-day event concluded on Wednesday, February 11, at the Al Ruwayyah Training City in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, attracting 109 specialized teams. Rwanda was represented by three units competing in multiple tactical categories designed to test counter-terrorism skills.
RNP SWAT Team 1 delivered a standout performance in the Obstacle Course Challenge, finishing third and earning a bronze medal after completing the course in 3 minutes, 40.90 seconds. The challenge assessed physical strength, coordination, teamwork, wall climbing, and the ability to maneuver through complex obstacles.
In the same category, RNP SWAT Team 2 placed 14th with a time of 4 minutes and 19 seconds, while the Rwanda Defence Force Special Operations Forces (SOF) team ranked 15th, clocking 4 minutes and 20 seconds.
In the final overall results, Kazakhstan Police Team C took first place with 536 points to claim gold, followed by Kazakhstan A with 515 points for silver. China Police Team C secured bronze with 493 points.
The UAE SWAT Challenge is widely regarded as one of the world’s most demanding tactical competitions, showcasing elite law-enforcement capabilities and promoting international cooperation among specialized police forces.
