Ghana Police Arrest Gang Leader Over Deadly Attack on Berekum Chelsea
Ghana Police have arrested a suspected gang leader believed to be behind the violent robbery attack on the Berekum Chelsea team bus, an incident that led to the death of striker Dominic Frimpong
The incident occurred on April 12, 2026, as the Ghana Premier League side was returning from an away match. Armed assailants ambushed the team bus along the Goaso–Bibiani road, opening fire and causing panic among players and officials.
During the attack, 20-year-old forward Dominic Frimpong was shot and later succumbed to his injuries, making him the only fatality from the incident. Several others on the team reportedly sustained minor injuries and trauma.
Police say the arrest of the alleged gang leader marks a major breakthrough in the investigation, with efforts ongoing to track down other suspects involved in the attack.
