The probe intensified on May 16, 2026, when investigators began searching Among’s residence shortly after she completed her first term as Speaker. Reports also indicated that she had been advised to suspend plans to seek a second term in office.

A day later, on May 17, Among announced that she would no longer contest for the parliamentary speakership and pledged to cooperate fully with authorities investigating the source of her assets.

On the morning of May 18, officials conducting the search were seen removing two of her vehicles from the property, including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan valued at around $400,000 and a Range Rover.

According to local media outlet Daily Monitor, the vehicles were transported to the national forensic laboratory in Kampala for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged illicit wealth.
