Eng. Mulindahabi Diogène, the former principal of IPRC Kigali, was fired from his position in government service
Eng. Mulindahabi Diogène, the former principal of the Integrated Polytechnic Regional College Kigali (IPRC-Kigali), has been fired from his position as a public servant.
Prime Minister's Order No. 008/03, which was issued on February 27, 2025, and published in the Official Gazette on March 3, 2025, made the announcement.
The order states that Mulindahabi was fired in response to a suggestion made by the Minister of Public Service and Labour, which the Cabinet examined and accepted on March 30, 2023.
According to the Prime Minister's direction, the responsibility for carrying out this order rests with the Minister of Education, the Minister of Public Service and Labour, and the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning.
Allegations of theft and misuse of public monies at IPRC-Kigali prompted an investigation into Mulindahabi and 19 other individuals in 2022.
He was charged with stealing public assets while serving as the institution's leader, including a water pump discovered at his home and another water treatment device.
In a case involving theft, forgery, and embezzlement of public property, Mulindahabi and eleven co-defendants were ordered to be temporarily released by the Kicukiro Primary Court on November 22, 2022, while five others were still being held.
Although Mulindahabi insisted on being released on bail, the prosecution at the time was unhappy with the court's decision and sought for his extended custody.
The theft of a variety of items, such as paint buckets, metal doors and windows, cabinets made at IPRC, machinery, and other equipment, was brought to light by the prosecution.
