The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has announced that the Military Prosecution is pursuing legal action against two RDF officers and 20 civilians suspected of committing crimes in collaboration with the said officers.

All suspects have been placed under provisional detention by the Military Prosecution on charges that include conspiracy to unlawfully obtain and distribute official documents, as well as misuse of public funds.

The charges stem from alleged irregularities in the purchase of flight tickets using a Ministry of Defence account, in violation of procurement procedures.

In a statement released by RDF on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the institution said:

"According to the law, when civilians commit crimes in collaboration with military personnel, they are prosecuted and tried by military courts."

Although RDF did not disclose the names of those arrested, the announcement follows growing reports that some of the detainees include journalists and fans.

The suspects are believed to be connected to the APR FC delegation that traveled to participate in international matches, including the CAF Champions League clash against Pyramids FC in September 2024.
