Diesel price increases as Petrol remains unchanged
The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has announced revised fuel prices that will apply for the next two months.
The new prices were announced on the evening of Wednesday, March 4, 2026, and will take effect starting March 5, 2026.
According to RURA, the price of petrol remains unchanged, with a litre not exceeding Rwf 1,989, the same price that was previously in place.
However, the price of diesel has increased by Rwf 48, with a litre now capped at Rwf 1,948, up from Rwf 1,900.
RURA stated that the adjustments were made in response to changes in international petroleum markets and government measures aimed at mitigating the impact of global price fluctuations.
Earlier this week, global oil prices reportedly rose by about 10% following attacks carried out by the United States in coordination with Israel against Iran.
Data shows that on February 27, 2026, a barrel of oil was trading at around $73, but it has since climbed to approximately $80.
Economic analysts warn that prices could continue to rise and potentially reach $100 per barrel if tensions in the Middle East intensify.
