Ambassador Umutoni Shakilla has presented her letters of credence to Mohamed Ali Nafti, officially accrediting her as Rwanda’s representative to Tunisia
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in Tunis, in accordance with diplomatic protocol and procedures governing international relations.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Umutoni Shakilla was formally received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia, Mohamed Ali Nafti. The minister welcomed her and highlighted the strong and friendly relations existing between Tunisia and Rwanda.
In her remarks, Ambassador Umutoni Shakilla expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Rwanda and Tunisia. She emphasized that her priorities will focus on enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as trade, tourism, education, and information and communication technology, with the aim of promoting mutual development and shared prosperity.
For his part, Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti praised Rwanda’s continued progress and development achievements. He also reaffirmed Tunisia’s willingness to further deepen cooperation with Rwanda in various areas of common interest.
Ambassador Umutoni Shakilla will represent Rwanda in Tunisia while being based in Rabat, where she is currently accredited.
This appointment reflects Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to expand its diplomatic presence and strengthen partnerships across the African continent, with a focus on sustainable development and international cooperation.
