Amb. Dushimimana presents credentials to Alar Karis Estonia’s President
Rwanda’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Lambert Dushimimana, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to Estonian President Alar Karis, accrediting him as Rwanda’s representative to Estonia.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Presidential Palace in Tallinn.
Amb. Dushimimana, who also represents Rwanda in the Netherlands, Lithuania and Latvia, reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Estonia, particularly in the areas of digital innovation and the use of technology in public service delivery.
Located in Northern Europe, Estonia covers approximately 45,336 square kilometers and has a population of about 1.36 million people, according to January 2026 estimates.
Rwanda and Estonia share common ambitions in leveraging technology for development. Estonia, widely recognized as one of Europe’s most digitally advanced nations, has built a strong reputation for e-governance and innovation.
Bilateral relations between the two countries have steadily grown over the years. In 2017, then-President Kersti Kaljulaid visited Rwanda, marking an important step in deepening cooperation. President Karis has led Estonia since August 2021.
