Usta Kaitesi Emphasizes Importance of Rwanda–Uganda Joint Commission
KIGALI : The Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Usta Kaitesi, has underscored the importance of the Joint Commission between Rwanda and Uganda in strengthening bilateral cooperation and delivering tangible results for citizens of both nations.
She made the remarks while addressing participants at the 12th Session of the Permanent Joint Commission, a high-level meeting aimed at reviewing and expanding cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
In her speech, Dr. Kaitesi highlighted the need to move beyond agreements and ensure that decisions made during such meetings are effectively implemented. She stressed that the success of bilateral cooperation should be measured by real benefits experienced by ordinary citizens.
“The priority now is to translate agreed resolutions into concrete actions that directly improve the lives of our people,” she noted.
The Permanent Joint Commission serves as a key platform for dialogue between Rwanda and Uganda, focusing on areas such as trade, security, infrastructure, and regional integration. The 12th session is expected to evaluate progress made so far and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
Officials from both countries reiterated their commitment to strengthening ties, emphasizing mutual trust, cooperation, and shared development goals.
The meeting comes at a time when Rwanda and Uganda continue to rebuild and deepen their relationship, with both sides expressing optimism about increased cooperation and long-term partnership.
Dr. Kaitesi concluded by calling for continued collaboration and accountability to ensure that the outcomes of the commission translate into sustainable development and improved livelihoods across both countries.
