Rwandan Police Officers Complete Specialized Training in Egypt »IP Emmanuel Gahigana Honored by President El-Sisi

Seven Rwandan police officers have graduated from advanced training programs at the Egyptian Police Academy in Cairo. The courses covered human rights, community policing, security crisis response, counterterrorism, and leadership. IP Emmanuel Gahigana received top honors from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for outstanding performance.


Seven Rwandan police officers at the rank of officers have successfully completed various specialized training courses in Egypt, with IP Emmanuel Gahigana receiving top honors from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his outstanding performance.

The officers attended four training programs held over an eight-week period at the prestigious Egyptian Police Academy in Cairo.

Two officers, IP Emmanuel Gahigana and AIP Jean de Dieu Tuyisenge, participated in a course focused on Human Rights and Police-Community Relations in Crime Prevention. IP Jonathan Uwindamutsa attended training on Security Crisis Management, while CIP Eric Shyaka and AIP Enock Rukundo completed a specialized course on Combating International Terrorism.

Additionally, CIP Enock Nkorerimana and CIP Byiringiro Mutijima took part in a Leadership and Command Training Program designed to enhance strategic leadership skills within police services.

During the graduation ceremony of the Cadet Course held at the academy last week, top performers from each training program were recognized and awarded by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Among the honorees was Rwanda’s own IP Emmanuel Gahigana, celebrated for his excellence and commitment throughout the training.

Continuous capacity building through local and international training remains a key pillar of the Rwanda National Police’s professional development strategy. The initiative aims to strengthen officers’ skills, enhance operational effectiveness, and foster closer cooperation with security agencies at the regional and international levels.
