Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye Heads to Rwanda for Official Visit
Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye departed from Dakar on Friday morning, bound for Kigali for a three-day working visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties between Rwanda and Senegal.
According to the Office of the President of Senegal, the visit taking place from October 17 to 19, 2025 follows an invitation from President Paul Kagame. It seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two nations in key sectors including trade, governance, tourism, and food security.
This marks President Faye’s first official visit to Rwanda since assuming office earlier this year. His Rwandan counterpart, President Kagame, has previously made two working visits to Senegal, the most recent being in August 2025 when he attended the Africa Food Systems Forum in Dakar.
During past engagements, the two leaders emphasized the importance of African solidarity and collaboration in addressing common challenges such as security, economic transformation, and sustainable development.
Rwanda and Senegal share a long-standing partnership, underscored by multiple cooperation agreements in areas such as culture, education, and media. The visit is expected to further consolidate these relations and open new avenues for mutual growth and regional cooperation.
