Kigali City Launches 10-Day Festive Entertainment Series to Celebrate Christmas and New Year
On Wednesday evening, the City of Kigali officially launched a series of festive entertainment activities at the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC), aimed at enabling city residents and visitors to celebrate Christmas and the New Year in a joyful and inclusive atmosphere.
The initiative brings together people for social interaction, leisure, food, and drinks, creating a vibrant space for relaxation and celebration during the end-of-year holidays. Lovers of music, dance, cinema, football, and other forms of entertainment have been catered for, as the events are scheduled to run for 10 consecutive days, from December 24, 2025, to January 2, 2026.
On the opening day, Kigali residents were helped to usher in the Christmas spirit through the screening of a locally produced film titled “The Bridge of Christmas.” The film, acted by Rwandans, was shown at the KCC grounds and delivers a strong message highlighting Christmas as a season of love, generosity, and human connection.
Speaking at the launch, the Mayor of Kigali, Samuel Dusengiyumva, said the entertainment series is part of the city’s broader plan to keep Kigali lively and welcoming, particularly during festive seasons.
“Our residents have contributed greatly to the city throughout the year by participating in various development programs,” Mayor Dusengiyumva said. “We thought it was important to give back by creating a space where they can relax, enjoy themselves, and celebrate together through entertainment.”
The Mayor also expressed appreciation to various partners who supported the initiative and contributed to making the festivities possible.
In addition to entertainment, designated areas have been set up at the KCC grounds where attendees can enjoy food and beverages, with seating spaces provided to encourage social interaction in a relaxed environment.
Speaking on behalf of one of the partners, Skol Brewery Limited’s Communications Officer, Karim Tuyishime, said that food and beverages will be available throughout the 10-day period, starting from morning hours, to ensure convenience for all participants.
The City of Kigali’s festive program is expected to enhance community bonding, boost holiday cheer, and ensure that Christmas and New Year celebrations are marked by joy, unity, and shared experiences among residents and visitors alike.
