King DJ Joshuu250, a Rwandan DJ based in Kenya, delivered an electrifying performance at the Rwanda Cultural Gala and Exhibition 2025 in Nairobi. Originally, from Nzahaha, Rusizi District, King has spent 10 years in Kenya, using music as a powerful tool to promote Rwandan culture and unite the diaspora. His fusion of Afrobeat, Amapiano, and traditional Rwandan sounds has made him a rising cultural ambassador and one of the most influential DJs representing Rwanda abroad.

Nairobi, Kenya: Under the warm lights of the Rwanda Cultural Gala and Exhibition 2025, the crowd erupted as the sound system came alive with an energetic fusion of Afro beats and Rwandan rhythms. Behind the decks stood King DJJoshuu250, a name that has grown familiar among East Africa’s Rwandan diaspora community.

Born King Nizeyimana Joshua in Nzahaha, Rusizi District, western Rwanda, the DJ has spent the past 10 years in Kenya, carving out a career that blends entertainment, cultural preservation, and community engagement. His journey is more than just a story of beats and playlists  it reflects the evolving identity of young Rwandans living abroad.

“Being part of this event isn’t just about playing music. It’s about telling our story through sound,” King DJJoshuu250 told UkweliTimes. “Every track I play carries a piece of home, a reminder of who we are as Rwandans.”

A Decade of Passion and Growth

When King first arrived in Kenya a decade ago, he was an ambitious young creative searching for opportunities. What began as small gigs at community gatherings grew into performances at cultural festivals, clubs, and corporate events. Over the years, he has earned a reputation for bringing authenticity to the stage, often mixing modern Afrobeat and Amapiano with traditional Rwandan sounds.

His performances are a bridge between cultures introducing Rwandan music to a broader East African audience while offering the diaspora a piece of home.

Cultural Diplomacy through Music

The Rwanda Cultural Gala and Exhibition is more than a celebration it’s a strategic cultural diplomacy initiative organized by the Rwandan community in Kenya in partnership with the High Commission. The event aims to preserve and promote Rwandan identity through art, music, food, fashion, and exhibitions of “Made in Rwanda” products.

King DJJoshuu250’s performance was a key highlight, drawing both Rwandans and non-Rwandans to the dance floor. His ability to blend global sounds with local roots made his set not just entertaining, but meaningful.

“Music has power. It unites people, it tells stories, and it keeps culture alive,” he said. “For us in the diaspora, it’s a way to stay connected to our heritage and to share it with others.”

Inspiring a New Generation of Creatives

King’s journey is part of a larger narrative one where young Rwandans in the diaspora are using creative industries to express identity and foster unity. From music to fashion to visual arts, many are stepping into global spaces while remaining anchored in their roots.

The DJ believes in mentorship and empowerment. When asked about his message to young Rwandans abroad, he was clear:

“Your talent is your identity. Don’t hide it. Use it to create, to inspire, and to show the world what Rwanda stands for.”

Looking Beyond the Decks

With a growing fan base and recognition across Kenyan cities, King DJJoshuu250 is already eyeing the next chapter of his career building an international platform. His plans include collaborations with East African artists, hosting cultural-themed DJ tours, and producing original music that fuses Rwandan traditional instruments with modern electronic sounds.

Industry experts say his approach reflects a rising trend of diaspora artists shaping cultural narratives. “We’re witnessing a generation that is rewriting the story of Rwanda abroad through art, music, and innovation,” said a cultural analyst based in Nairobi.

A Cultural Ambassador in His Own Right

While King does not carry an official diplomatic title, his influence mirrors that of a cultural ambassador. His performances are both entertainment and storytelling showcasing the beauty, resilience, and pride of Rwanda.

“Every event like this reminds me why I do what I do,” he said as the night drew to a close. “This is more than music it’s legacy.”
