Rwandan singer Thabita Uwizerwa, widely known by her stage name Tabz, was among the artists who lit up the stage at the Rwanda Cultural Gala & Exhibition 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.
In an exclusive interview with UkweliTimes, Tabz expressed her joy and appreciation for being invited to perform and celebrate Rwandan culture with the Rwandan community living in Kenya and their friends.
“I’m truly happy and honored to be here. Performing for my fellow Rwandans in Kenya has been a special moment for me. I thank the organizers for giving me this platform,” Tabz said.
Tabz, who is currently based in Kenya and pursuing her solo music career, also revealed that she recently released a new song titled “My Way”, marking another milestone in her musical journey.
The young artist first rose to prominence as a lead vocalist in Neptunez Band, a popular live music band in Rwanda. Although she is no longer part of the group, Tabz credits Neptunez for shaping her musical foundation and giving her the confidence to shine as a solo performer. Her first solo song, “Gake,” introduced her to a wider audience, showcasing her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence.
Tabz is a graduate of the Rwanda School of Creative Arts (formerly Nyundo), an institution known for producing top Rwandan musicians such as Igor Mabano, Yverry, and Ariel Symphony Band.
As an artist representing Rwanda in the diaspora, Tabz believes in using music to promote Rwandan culture and unity.
“This is more than just a concert. It’s a celebration of who we are as Rwandans our culture, our identity, and our pride. It’s also a chance to share it with the world,” she added.
Looking ahead, Tabz plans to release more music and collaborate with artists both locally and internationally, with a vision of taking Rwandan music to greater heights.
“Music is my life. I want to represent Rwanda wherever I go,” she said with confidence.
