Rwandans in Kenya Celebrate Heritage at Rwanda Cultural Gala & Exhibition 2025

Over 500 Rwandans and friends of Rwanda attended the Rwanda Cultural Gala & Exhibition 2025 in Nairobi. The event celebrated Rwanda’s heritage, unity, and cultural identity, while recognizing teams from the inaugural Imena Football Tournament. High Commissioner Ernest Rwamucyo emphasized the importance of preserving Rwandan culture as a pillar of national identity.


More than 500 Rwandans and friends of Rwanda gathered last evening at The United Kenya Club in Nairobi for the Rwanda Cultural Gala & Exhibition 2025, an annual celebration that brings the Rwandan community together to honor and showcase their rich cultural heritage.

The colorful event featured exhibitions of Rwandan art, fashion, cuisine, and entrepreneurial products and services offered by members of the Rwandan community living in Kenya. The gala served not only as a cultural celebration but also as a platform to strengthen community ties and promote Rwanda’s identity on the regional stage.

Speaking during the event, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, H.E. Ernest Rwamucyo, emphasized the importance of safeguarding Rwanda’s heritage.

“This event is more than just a cultural gala; it’s a celebration of who we are as a people  our unity, our shared values, and our pride as a nation,” said High Commissioner Rwamucyo.

He expressed gratitude to all Rwandans and friends of Rwanda who took part in the celebration and underscored that culture remains a strong pillar of the Rwandan identity, contributing to national cohesion and resilience.

The highlight of the evening was the awarding ceremony for the four Rwandan teams that participated in the recently concluded Imena Football Tournament 2025, which took place at Marist International University College. The tournament brought together Rwandan communities from Bondo, Thika, Kasarani, and Marist to promote unity and sportsmanship.

Participants described the gala as an inspiring moment of pride, reflection, and connection to their roots. Organizers say the event will continue to serve as an annual platform to showcase Rwanda’s cultural excellence and entrepreneurial spirit in Kenya.
