First Lady Jeannette Kagame Praises Kepler College for Championing Inclusive and Transformative Education
Rwanda’s First Lady, Jeannette Kagame, has commended Kepler College for its continued efforts to promote inclusive education, emphasizing the institution’s dedication to providing equal learning opportunities to refugees and persons with disabilities.
She made these remarks on November 12, 2025, during Kepler College’s graduation ceremony, where 293 students received their bachelor’s degrees 43 from the Kigali campus and 250 from the Kiziba campus located in Karongi District.
Reflecting on her own experience of growing up in exile, Mrs. Kagame said she felt a deep connection to Kepler’s mission of ensuring access to education for all. She explained that people living as refugees often face uncertainty about their future, yet education offers them hope and purpose.
“I am truly moved by Kepler’s approach to inclusive education,” she said. “Too often, people such as refugees and individuals with disabilities are overlooked in the pursuit of survival. As someone who grew up in exile, I understand what it means to be denied opportunities others take for granted.”
She added that despite the hardships refugees experienced, their determination to seek education became a source of strength and resilience. According to her, the success of Kepler’s graduates symbolizes the realization of Rwanda’s vision one that ensures every student, regardless of background, can access quality education and achieve their dreams.
Mrs. Kagame praised Kepler for preparing graduates who are ready for the job market, highlighting how its practical approach to learning yields real results.
“It’s truly encouraging that many of you are able to find jobs within a year after completing your studies,” she said. “This is not a story that graduates everywhere in the world can tell. It’s proof that the education provided here is aligned with the needs of the job market and that it works.”
She went on to say that Kepler’s programs go beyond academics, preparing students to think critically, communicate effectively, and lead with integrity. She encouraged graduates to use their knowledge and creativity to solve pressing global challenges and contribute positively to their communities. “You are not only prepared to enter the job market,” she told them, “you are prepared to make an impact, to innovate, and to be part of solutions that our world urgently needs.”
Kepler College became a fully accredited university in 2022, marking a new milestone after nearly a decade of working with international academic partners. This year’s ceremony marked its first official graduation of degree-holding students. The institution offers programs in business, project management, and other market-relevant fields, along with short courses designed to strengthen employable skills.
Its student body includes young people from Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Eritrea, and Gabon a reflection of its Pan-African vision and commitment to accessible, transformative education.
The 2025 graduation celebration stood as a powerful reminder that education can change lives. Through its inclusive model that blends digital learning, leadership training, and global collaboration, Kepler College continues to show that when given the chance, every student can rise, lead, and shape a better future for all.
