Minister Nsengimana Launches #FresheriKuIshuri Campaign to Promote Hygiene Culture in Rwandan Schools
This Monday, a nationwide campaign was launched across Rwanda to promote a culture of hygiene and cleanliness in schools, encouraging students to maintain personal hygiene, keep their uniforms clean, and take care of their surroundings.
In Kigali, the #FresheriKuIshuri campaign was officially launched by the Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, at Karembure School Complex in Kicukiro District. During the event, Minister Nsengimana joined students in cleaning activities, including cutting grass around the school.
In his message to students, Minister Nsengimana urged them to practice hygiene both at school and at home.
In the Western Province, the campaign kicked off at G.S Amahoro in Gisenyi Sector, Rubavu District, attended by various leaders, including the Minister of Local Government, Dominique Habimana.
In Karongi, at Rubengera Vocational Secondary School II, the hygiene campaign also began, aiming to inspire students to take care of their personal hygiene. Paul Umukunzi, Director of the Rwanda Technical and Vocational Education Board (RTB), noted that Rwanda has four million students, and that maintaining hygiene sets a good example for the wider community.
As part of the campaign, officials visited student dormitories and dining areas to ensure cleanliness and also planted trees in school gardens, promoting environmental care alongside personal hygiene.
