Rwanda Strengthens Preparations to Host Africa Food Systems Forum 2026.

Kigali, Rwanda — Monday, April 13, 2026 – The Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Usta Kayitesi, received Hailemariam Dessalegn, the Executive Chair of the Africa Food Systems Forum.


Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Rwanda and the forum, particularly in preparations for the upcoming Africa Food Systems Forum, scheduled to take place in Rwanda from September 1 to September 5, 2026.

The forum is expected to bring together African leaders, investors, agricultural experts, and development partners to explore solutions for improving food systems across the continent. 

Key issues to be addressed include climate change, food security, and sustainable agriculture.

Dr. Kayitesi emphasized that hosting the forum presents a significant opportunity for Rwanda to showcase its commitment to advancing agriculture and promoting food security both regionally and globally.

On his part, Hailemariam Dessalegn commended Rwanda for its strong track record in successfully hosting major international events. He expressed confidence that the 2026 forum will deliver practical and impactful solutions to challenges affecting food systems in Africa.

The Africa Food Systems Forum is also expected to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, investment opportunities, and partnerships aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring sustainable food systems across the continent.
