Rwanda and Egypt Sign New Cooperation Agreements
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Rwanda and Egypt signed a set of new agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in key sectors including investment, water resource management, urban development and housing, as well as land allocation for development projects.
The agreements were signed following private talks between President Paul Kagame and President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in Cairo, where President Kagame began a working visit today. The two Heads of State also attended bilateral discussions between their respective delegations, paving the way for accords expected to further deepen mutually beneficial ties between the two countries.
President Kagame emphasized the opportunities for Rwanda and Egypt to expand practical cooperation.
“Our two countries have many opportunities to strengthen collaboration. Africa is endowed with vast natural resources, but to truly benefit from them, we must transform them into value-added products,” he said.
He added that the ultimate goal is to establish “a sustainable chain of development well-structured and designed to generate prosperity for our citizens.”
Rwanda and the Arab Republic of Egypt share diplomatic relations that span more than 55 years, with ongoing cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, health, defense, infrastructure, and education. The newly signed agreements are expected to add further momentum to this longstanding partnership.
A day earlier, business leaders from both countries convened for the inaugural Rwanda-Egypt Business Forum. The meeting brought together investors and traders from diverse sectors including construction, real estate, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, manufacturing, and agriculture, underscoring a shared commitment to expand commercial and investment ties.
