The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning when the men resisted security officers. It occurred in Marembo Village, Nyarukombe Cell, Muyumbu Sector, Rwamagana District.

Reports indicate that they were being taken to show some of the stolen items and tools they had used to kill the guards.

At the end of July, the suspects allegedly broke into the liquor depot and murdered two guards on duty, identified as Mudaheranwa Venuste and Bizimana Mark. It is said that they went to the storage facility guarded by Mudaheranwa and Bizimana, killed them using ropes and metal objects, and then took away some of the items stored there.

The Eastern Province Police Spokesperson, SP Hamdun Twizeyimana, confirmed the shooting to UKWELITIMES.

He said: “Yes, they were arrested in the early hours of today while being taken to reveal where they had hidden the stolen liquor. Upon arrival, they started resisting the police officers guarding them, and they were shot.”

He added: “It was confirmed that both were involved in the recent murder and robbery in Muyumbu. As they were about to show where they had hidden 300 crates of Bralirwa drinks and an EBM machine they had taken, they tried to strangle the police officers guarding them with handcuffs, leading to their shooting.”
