Michelle Umurungi, the Director General in charge of Investment at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), has urged young Rwandans to seize the abundant investment opportunities available in Rwanda and align their personal goals with the country's development agenda.

She made the remarks while addressing participants of the 15th edition of Itorero Indangamirwa, a civic leadership training program bringing together Rwandan youth from within the country and abroad. Umurungi highlighted key sectors ripe for investment, including agriculture, mining, healthcare, technology, and financial services.

“These are areas where Rwanda continues to attract investors. But beyond that, they represent critical avenues through which the youth can drive transformation and contribute meaningfully to national development,” she said.

She encouraged the participants to combine their dreams, academic knowledge, and skills with the pressing needs of Rwanda. “There’s no sustainable success without aligning your ambitions with what your country needs,” she added.

The current cohort of Indangamirwa trainees is undergoing intensive civic education at the Nkumba Leadership and Civic Training Centre in Burera District. The group includes Rwandans studying or living abroad, graduates from international high schools, exceptional youth who completed the Inkomezabigwi national service, and various youth leaders from across the country.

Through the Indangamirwa program, the government aims to instill patriotism, discipline, leadership values, and a strong sense of responsibility among young people, preparing them to take up meaningful roles in Rwanda’s transformation.
