The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has finished training the third group of soldiers from the Central African Republic (CAR).  A bilateral arrangement between Rwanda and CAR, which started in 2020 when Rwanda sent troops to strengthen CAR's security, includes the training.

The curriculum, which included important military abilities like enemy detection, battle tactics, map reading, and field training, was finished by 438 trainees.

High-ranking authorities attended the graduation event, which took place at Kasai Military Camp. Among them were CAR Prime Minister Félix Moloua, who was the guest of honor, and RDF Army Chief of Staff Major General Vincent Nyakarundi.  The troops had been under rigorous training for six months.

Wassialo Nzeti, 19, was one of the graduates. She enlisted in the military because of the continuous security issues in her nation.  She underlined how important young people are to the development of the country.

"The country thrives when there is security.  We received training that was significantly better than what our military had previously offered," she stated.

Lessons in weapons handling, warfare tactics, and map reading were very important to Nzeti.

"I have a strong interest in security issues, so I plan to stay in the military.  Since security is the cornerstone of everything, I will also urge others to join.  RDF's professionalism, discipline, and dedication are what I found most admirable.

Wanda Choisi, another graduate, commended the course for emphasizing practical skills and discipline.

"Map reading was one of the most important lessons.  I had never studied it before this course, but now that I have mastered it, it will be essential to my job."

The recently trained soldiers have been placed in a specialist unit that is in charge of responding quickly in emergency situations.

Maj Gen Nyakarundi said he was certain they could use their training to safeguard CAR.

"I have faith that the abilities you have gained will be applied to counter threats rather than endanger the people you have vowed to defend.  "You stand before us today as soldiers dedicated to valiantly defending your nation," he said.

Maj Gen Nyakarundi emphasized that hard work and discipline were crucial in preparing them to become capable soldiers, acknowledging the demanding nature of the training.

He also thanked the military commanders of RDF and FACA, as well as the leadership of both Rwanda and the CAR, for their assistance in ensuring the program's success.

With 159 individuals having recently completed advanced training and another cohort scheduled to start training in the upcoming month, Maj Gen Nyakarundi underlined RDF's commitment to training CAR soldiers.

38 of the 438 graduates were female, indicating the increasing presence of female troops in the CAR military.
