Iran has confirmed that Major General Majid Khademi, head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in a strike carried out on April 6, 2026.

In an official statement, Iranian authorities said Khademi died as a result of joint military action by the United States Armed Forces and the Israel Defense Forces, marking a major escalation in tensions involving Iran’s security leadership.

Khademi had recently taken over the intelligence post after replacing Mohammad Kazemi, who was killed in Israeli strikes on June 15, 2025, during a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.

His leadership came during a period of internal unrest in Iran. Following widespread protests in February 2026, Khademi accused U.S. President Donald Trump of having indirect involvement in fueling the demonstrations, alleging that foreign actors played a role in escalating the situation.

International observers say his killing marks a significant development in the ongoing shadow conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel, raising concerns over possible retaliation and further regional escalation.
