Government of Rwanda sends 20 tonnes of food and medical aid to Mozambique
The Government of Rwanda has dispatched humanitarian assistance weighing 20 tonnes to Mozambique, consisting of food supplies, medicines, and other essential relief items.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the aid is intended to support communities affected by severe flooding that has displaced many families and caused significant damage to property.
The ministry noted that the consignment reflects Rwanda’s solidarity with the people of Mozambique during this difficult period. The floods have resulted in loss of lives and forced thousands of residents to leave their homes.
Rwanda has a record of providing humanitarian assistance beyond its borders. In 2025, through coordination with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Rwanda delivered 40 tonnes of food and medical supplies to Gaza to help address critical shortages of basic necessities amid a humanitarian crisis.
Since July 2021, the two countries have also been working closely in the security sector, particularly in combating terrorism in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado Province, which had been destabilized by the Ansar al-Sunnah extremist group.
The latest humanitarian support underscores Rwanda’s continued commitment to regional solidarity, peace, and collective response to humanitarian emergencies.
