Emeline Imanizabayo Wins Gold at Seven Hills Record Run in the Netherlands
Rwanda’s athlete Emeline Imanizabayo delivered an outstanding performance to claim gold in the women’s 5,000m race at the Seven Hills Record Run held in Nijmegen on April 18, 2026.
The international competition attracted over 170 athletes competing across six categories, including junior and senior divisions for both men and women. Imanizabayo stood out as the only participant representing Rwanda, competing in the senior women’s category.
The 30-year-old runner secured first place with an impressive time of 15 minutes and 7 seconds, setting the pace in a highly competitive field. Finland’s Ilona Mononen finished second, just three seconds behind, while Kenya’s Maurine Jepkoech Chebor took third place, eight seconds off the winning time.
Imanizabayo’s victory has been widely praised by Rwandan officials, including the Minister of Sports, who commended her achievement and encouraged her to continue striving for excellence on the international stage.
Known for her versatility in long-distance running, Imanizabayo also competes in events ranging from 1,500m to 15,000m, further cementing her status as one of Rwanda’s leading athletics talents.
Her latest triumph not only highlights her personal dedication but also reinforces Rwanda’s growing presence in global athletics competitions.
