Tanzanian music legend and philanthropist Diamond Platnumz   has broken his silence, calling for peace, unity, and healing in the wake of the country’s   disputed 2025 general election   that left communities deeply divided and unrest sweeping through several regions.

In a heartfelt message shared via his Instagram stories, Diamond pleaded for calm and reconciliation amid growing tensions:

 “Inshaallah Mwenyezi Mungu atujaalie amani zaidi ya tuliyokuwa nayo mwanzo, atujaalie upendo zaidi, umoja, mshikamano, maendeleo na azilaze roho za waliotangulia mahala pema peponi. Amina.”

 (Translation: Insha’Allah (God willing), may the Almighty grant us more peace than we had before, grant us more love, unity, solidarity, development, and may He rest the souls of those who have passed away in paradise. Amen.)

Backlash and National Turmoil

Diamond’s message comes amid a wave of public anger directed at Tanzanian celebrities who were seen as close to the ruling party, with critics accusing them of remaining silent while the nation descended into chaos.

The   October 29, 2025, elections   have been described by the opposition as marred by irregularities, including voter suppression and the exclusion of key opposition figures. What followed was a   nationwide wave of protests, stretching from   Dar es Salaam to Arusha and Mwanza  , as citizens demanded transparency and justice.

Authorities responded with   heightened security measures deploying military and police units, imposing curfews, and   restricting internet access   across the country. Reports from human rights organizations and opposition groups indicate   hundreds of deaths, scores of injuries, and widespread arrests. The government, however, has   denied allegations of excessive force.
