Provisional results from the presidential election in the Central African Republic show that President Faustin-Archange Touadéra has won a third term in office, securing 76.15% of the vote, according to official figures released on Monday.

The election was held on December 28, 2025, with Touadéra comfortably defeating his main challengers, including former Prime Minister Anicet Georges Dologuélé, who received 14.66%, and former finance minister Henri Marie Dondra, who garnered 3.19% of the votes.

Touadéra, 68, has led the country for the past decade. During his campaign, he highlighted what he described as progress in national security and stability, as well as the signing of peace agreements with armed groups, achievements he credited for improving conditions in the conflict-affected nation.

His bid for a third term followed constitutional changes that allowed him to seek re-election, a move that sparked political debate and strong opposition criticism.

The main opposition coalition, the Bloc Républicain pour la Défense de la Constitution (BRDC), rejected the election results, alleging irregularities and claiming the vote was neither free nor fair. However, Touadéra’s government firmly denied the accusations, insisting that the electoral process was conducted transparently and in accordance with the law.

The Constitutional Court has announced that it will review all electoral complaints and is expected to declare the final results on January 20, 2026.

As the country awaits the court’s final ruling, the election outcome continues to draw attention both domestically and internationally, amid ongoing discussions about governance, constitutional reform, and long-term stability in the Central African Republic.
