Police VC make history by reaching CAVB men’s club championship final
Police Volleyball Club (Police VC) has written a new chapter in Rwandan sports history after becoming the first Rwandan men’s volleyball team to reach the final of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Men’s Club Championship 2026.
The historic achievement came after a hard-fought 3-1 victory over REG VC in the semi-final match. The set scores were 20-25, 25-22, 17-25, and 21-25, in a thrilling encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
REG VC started strongly, taking the first set 25-20 with powerful attacks and solid defense. However, Police VC quickly regrouped, improving their reception and blocking system to take the second set 25-22. The match remained intense as both teams fought for dominance, but Police VC’s experience and tactical discipline began to show.
In the third set, REG VC briefly regained control, winning 25-17 after exploiting gaps in Police VC’s defense. Despite this setback, Police VC responded strongly in the fourth set, displaying resilience, teamwork, and mental strength. Their consistent serving pressure and effective counter-attacks helped them close the set 25-21, sealing a historic 3-1 victory.
This win marks a major milestone for Rwandan volleyball, as Police VC becomes the first club from the country to qualify for the final of this prestigious continental competition. The team’s journey reflects years of investment in training, discipline, and competitive experience at both local and regional levels.
Speaking after the match, team representatives emphasized unity, determination, and ambition as key factors behind their success. They also highlighted their goal of winning the championship and bringing the continental trophy to Rwanda for the first time. Police VC will now prepare for the final with high confidence, aiming to crown their historic run with continental glory at MAVCC 2026.
