The suspects have been identified as Nsanzimana Augustin and Niyonshuti Emmanuel, who were operating a YouTube channel known as “Imbarutso ya Demokarasi” (translated as “The Catalyst of Democracy”).

According to information confirmed by the RIB spokesperson, Dr. Murangira B. Thierry, and reported by IGIHE, the two individuals are being investigated for allegedly engaging in the dissemination of misleading or false information through their online content.

RIB stated that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that information shared on digital platforms complies with the law and does not mislead the public or threaten social order.

The investigation into the case is still ongoing, and authorities have not yet released further details regarding possible charges or legal proceedings.
