Ministry of Education and MTN Rwanda sign partnership to boost digital learning
This Thursday, 29 January 2026, the Ministry of Education and MTN Rwanda signed a partnership aimed at expanding digital skills development and widening access to digital learning across Rwanda’s education sector.
The signing coincided with the official launch of the Digital Skills for Digital Jobs initiative, a digital learning and career-guidance platform designed to equip Rwandan youth with market-relevant skills for the country’s growing digital economy. The platform offers over 500 digital courses to support students, teachers, and out-of-school youth in developing the skills needed for the 21st-century workforce.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengiyumva, emphasized the practical benefits of the partnership:
“This partnership between the Government of Rwanda, through the Ministry of Education, and MTN Rwanda is about more than connectivity it is about skills that change lives. By expanding access to digital learning for students, teachers, and out-of-school youth, we are equipping young people with the skills they need not only to succeed, but to thrive in the 21st-century economy.
Through this partnership, teachers undertaking English-language courses will benefit from affordable, customised bundles, while education content will be made easier and more accessible.
Beneficiaries of the RISE Programme will also be supported, and more broadly, young people across the country will gain access to over 500 digital courses. Together, these efforts will open pathways to jobs, informed career choices, and inclusive growth, reflecting our commitment to ensuring that no learner is left behind in Rwanda’s digital transformation.”
The partnership marks a significant step in Rwanda’s efforts to strengthen digital literacy and ensure that both students and teachers have the skills and resources to thrive in an increasingly digital world
