Barcelona reach agreement with Newcastle for Anthony Gordon
La Liga Champions FC Barcelona are reportedly set to add another English attacker on the squad after reaching an agreement with Newcastle United for winger Anthony Gordon in a deal worth around €80 million including add-ons.
This move would see Gordon become another English player at Barça following the loan spell of Marcus Rashford, who impressed during the 2025/26 campaign under coach Hansi Flick. Rashford recorded 13 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances across La Liga and Champions League, but reports suggest Gordon’s arrival could affect Barcelona’s plans regarding a permanent deal for the Manchester United forward.
Gordon arrives after a strong season with Newcastle, finishing as the club's top scorer with 17 goals across all competitions and played a key role in their European campaign following Isak and Wissa transfers. Gordon is known for his pace, versatility, and high intensity pressing which allows him to fit in the sqaud in a short time.
This transfer raises questions about the club's attacking hierarchy, with players such as Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Rashford already competing for wide positions, Gordon’s arrival could intensify competition rather than guarantee a starting role immediately.
Gordon has featured in 176 Premier League games, scoring 31 goals and 20 assists across his tenures with Newcastle United and Everton. This transfer could provide funds for a summer rebuild in Newcastle after another mediocre season.
