Rwanda has signed a partnership agreement with Philex, a pharmaceutical company that produces essential medicines, including treatments for cancer.
The agreement will facilitate the supply of medicines, including treatments for cancer, heart disease, and high blood pressure.
The signing ceremony was attended by Rwanda’s Ambassador to Qatar, Igor Marara, highlighting the partnership as a significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector.
Philex is an internationally operating pharmaceutical manufacturer headquartered in Salalah, Oman. The company uses advanced technology to produce reliable medicines, including treatments for cancer and cardiovascular diseases, and is committed to providing affordable medicines and medical supplies in the region.
On August 17, 2025, Philex also signed a collaboration agreement with Rwanda’s Labophar Ltd, which will facilitate the importation of tablet and powder medicines into the country.
In 2024, during the International Security Conference leveraging technology, President Paul Kagame emphasized Rwanda’s strong partnership with Qatar, aimed at implementing projects that boost both countries’ economies and improve citizens’ welfare.
President Kagame also highlighted national unity as a foundation for Rwanda’s development, with progress in health, education, technology, agriculture, and industry.
This healthcare partnership between Rwanda and Philex represents a major step toward improving access to essential medicines for Rwandans, particularly treatments for critical illnesses such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
