President Paul Kagame has officially inaugurated Zaria Court Kigali, a state-of-the-art sports, entertainment, and cultural complex located in Remera, Gasabo District, in the City of Kigali.

The Head of State was joined at the launch by Masai Ujiri, the founder of Giants of Africa and the visionary behind the Zaria Court project, along with Minister of Sports Nelly Mukazayire and Zaria Group CEO Andrew Feinstein.

In his remarks, Masai Ujiri expressed deep appreciation for President Kagame’s leadership, commending him as a forward-thinking leader committed to uniting people for progress.

“When you talk about vision, leadership, collaboration, and building partnerships President Kagame embodies all of these. I want to thank you, Mr. President. I’m not sure we say it enough. I know many young people on this continent who play sports but have no leaders giving them real opportunities.”

Ujiri emphasized that Kagame stands out as a leader who sees sports not just as recreation, but as a catalyst for economic growth:

“Most people in Africa see sports as just entertainment or leisure. President Kagame sees it as business, as a driver of development and a means to uplift lives and transform economies across the continent.”

Zaria Court Kigali was completed at a cost of $25 million (approximately 36 billion Rwandan francs). Construction began in August 2023, with the foundation stone laid by President Kagame and Masai Ujiri.

The multi-purpose complex features:

  • A modern 80-room hotel
  • Multiple restaurants and rooftop dining areas
  • A fully equipped gym
  • A media and recording studio
  • A multi-use court for sports and live events
  • Space for festivals, concerts, and exhibitions
  • A marketplace and shopping area for both locals and visitors

Zaria Court Kigali is expected to become a vibrant hub that not only promotes sports and culture but also boosts youth employment, entrepreneurship, and tourism in Rwanda.
