On Monday, 1,903 police trainees, including 359 women, completed their studies at the Rwanda National Police Training School in Gishari and were formally inducted into the Rwanda National Police.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Vincent Biruta, senior police officials, and other invited dignitaries.

Minister Biruta emphasized the importance of security as the foundation for national development and urged the new officers to serve with dedication and professionalism.

“I commend you for choosing to join your senior colleagues in this profession. The skills you have acquired provide a strong foundation for the responsibilities ahead. Your progress reflects hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude. May this achievement inspire you to continue advancing in this noble career,” said Minister Biruta.

The head of the Rwanda National Police Training School, CP Robert Niyonshuti, praised the trainees for their commitment and discipline during the nine-month training program.

“I commend the trainees for their enthusiasm and dedication. The training you have completed is just the beginning. Throughout your service, you will continue to receive additional training and develop skills to effectively fulfil your duties.

Wherever you serve, remember that discipline is the pillar of this profession. I welcome you to this career. As your elders, we are ready to support you throughout your journey,” said CP Niyonshuti.

During their training, the officers learned key skills such as crowd control, emergency response, self-defense, and other operational tactics.

Over the past 12 months, the Gishari Training School also trained 8,529 police officers and DASSO personnel in various professional programs. In community-focused initiatives, the Rwanda National Police facilitated health insurance for 1,000 residents of Gishari Sector and planted over 40,000 trees to promote environmental protection.

The newly inducted officers are now expected to uphold the law, maintain public safety, and demonstrate professionalism and discipline throughout their careers.
