Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to Visit Rwanda
Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is scheduled to make an official visit to Rwanda on October 17, 2025, at the invitation of President Paul Kagame.
The visit was confirmed during Senegal’s Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, where it was announced that discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas including economy, technology, and diplomatic relations.
Rwanda and Senegal enjoy strong and growing ties built on a shared vision of advancing Africa’s self-reliance and sustainable development. The two Heads of State have held several engagements aimed at boosting trade and investment between their countries.
President Kagame visited Senegal in May 2024, a month after President Faye took office, becoming one of the first African leaders to express support and reaffirm the strong partnership between the two nations.
More recently, President Kagame attended the Africa Food Summit in Dakar from August 31 to September 1, 2025, where leaders discussed solutions to hunger and malnutrition across the continent.
After his visit to Rwanda, President Faye is expected to continue his regional tour in Kenya from October 19 to 21, 2025, as part of efforts to deepen Senegal’s cooperation with East African nations.
