Rwanda has taken part in a high-level consultative meeting organized by a coalition of African diplomatic representatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and the Korea-Africa Foundation, an institution dedicated to strengthening cooperation between Korea and African countries in various development sectors.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from both sides with the primary objective of laying groundwork for two major upcoming international events: the Korea Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting scheduled for 1 June 2026, and the Korea Africa Business Forum set to take place on 2 June 2026.

During the discussions, participants reviewed the progress that has been made so far in Korea–Africa relations, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, technology transfer, education, infrastructure development, and capacity building. Both parties acknowledged that cooperation between Korea and African nations has grown steadily over the years, contributing significantly to socio-economic development on the continent.

The consultative meeting also served as a platform for dialogue on expectations and priorities ahead of the upcoming summits. Delegates emphasized the importance of ensuring that the meetings produce concrete and mutually beneficial outcomes, especially in enhancing economic partnerships and promoting sustainable development initiatives.

In addition, participants highlighted the need to strengthen coordination mechanisms between Korea and African countries in order to maximize the impact of future cooperation programs. Special attention was given to expanding business opportunities, encouraging private sector engagement, and fostering innovation-driven partnerships.

Rwanda’s participation in this meeting reflects its continued commitment to strengthening international cooperation and engaging in strategic partnerships that support national development goals. The country continues to position itself as an active player in regional and global diplomacy, particularly in initiatives that promote economic growth and technological advancement.

The upcoming Korea Africa summits are expected to further deepen relations between the two sides, providing a platform for high-level dialogue, business networking, and the signing of new cooperation agreements that will shape future collaboration.
