Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva has called on the youth who graduated from the 15th Itorero Indangamirwa intake to continue defending the truth and confronting those who try to tarnish Rwanda’s image.

Speaking to 443 young participants who spent 45 days at the Nkumba National Leadership Centre in Burera District, the Prime Minister emphasized that Itorero plays a key role in instilling knowledge and civic values across the country.

“Itorero is one of Rwanda’s homegrown solutions, rooted in our culture, designed to help the nation rebuild after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. It is a school of civic education that trains Rwandans to strengthen unity, share a common vision, work together, and strive for sustainable development,” Dr. Nsengiyumva said.

He highlighted that Itorero complements formal education, urging the youth to apply the lessons they have learned in the journey of national development.

Speaking about Rwanda’s Vision 2050, he stressed the importance of cultural and civic values, encouraging the new graduates to work alongside alumni to preserve and promote the principles instilled in them by the program.

“Those who defame Rwanda, you must challenge them with the truth. Carry a positive image of Rwanda wherever you go, embrace our values, be proud to be Rwandan, and safeguard the country’s development,” he added.

Dr. Nsengiyumva also reminded the youth that when they travel abroad, they must remain true to themselves, resisting those who would try to undermine or sway them for personal interests.
