Ambassador Col. (Rtd) Donat Ndamage presented his credentials to President Azali Assoumani during a ceremony held at the Beit-Salaam Palace in Moroni on July 5, 2025. 

According to the Embassy of Rwanda in Maputo—which also covers diplomatic representation in the Comoros—prior to the ceremony, the Ambassador had met with the Comorian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Mbaé Chanfiou, to whom he presented copies of his credentials. 

“The Minister of Foreign Affairs and President Azali reiterated that the relationship between the two countries, which share a history of brotherhood, is strong, and emphasized the need to continue strengthening cooperation in various sectors,” the Embassy posted on X. 

In 2022, Rwanda and the Union of the Comoros signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration in areas such as good governance, engagement with the diaspora, social welfare support, technology-driven solutions, and other key sectors. 

This agreement was signed in June between Rwanda Cooperation—a government agency responsible for coordinating Rwanda’s South-South Cooperation and promoting knowledge-based development projects—and the Comoros Agency for International Cooperation (ACCI).
