Rwanda and Mozambique Renew Cooperation Agreements to Combat Terrorism
On 27 August 2025 – Rwanda and Mozambique have renewed key cooperation agreements, strengthening their partnership in investment and the fight against terrorism.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and his Mozambican counterpart, Daniel Francisco Chapo, who is on a two-day working visit to Rwanda. Before the formal signing, the two leaders held private talks at Village Urugwiro to discuss ongoing cooperation between their countries across various sectors.
President Kagame welcomed the visit, highlighting the strong friendship and collaboration between the two nations. “This is an excellent opportunity to reinforce our trade channels for the benefit of both our countries. I am confident we are on the right path to further enhance our robust partnership, and I look forward to continuing our work together,” he said.
As part of the agreements, Rwanda and Mozambique renewed their cooperation in investment and counter-terrorism efforts. The investment cooperation accord was signed by Jean-Guy Afrika, CEO of Rwanda Development Board (RDB), and Amade Miquidade, Mozambique’s Ambassador to Rwanda, representing Mozambique’s investment and export promotion agency.
Meanwhile, the counter-terrorism agreement was signed by the two countries’ Ministers of Defense, Juvenal Marizamunda of Rwanda and Cristóvão Artur Chume of Mozambique, signaling a joint commitment to strengthening security and addressing regional threats.
The renewed agreements reflect the longstanding collaboration between Rwanda and Mozambique, reinforcing economic ties while addressing pressing security challenges in the region.
