RDF in Central African Republic Awarded Medals of Honor
On August 12, 2025, Rwandan Defence Forces (RDF) soldiers of RWABAT-2, deployed on a peacekeeping mission under MINUSCA in the Central African Republic (CAR), were awarded medals in recognition of their efforts to restore and maintain peace in the country.
The medals were presented at the Bossembele Base Camp in Ombella-M’Poko Prefecture, during a ceremony led by Col. Mohamed Said, representing the MINUSCA Force Commander.
Col. Said commended the RDF troops for their dedication and professionalism, emphasizing that United Nations medals symbolize recognition for soldiers who demonstrate commitment, protect civilians, and uphold peace in line with MINUSCA’s mandate. He stated:
“On behalf of the MINUSCA Force Commander and the entire MINUSCA leadership, I thank you for the hard work you have carried out over the past ten months with dedication and professionalism, in one of the most challenging peacekeeping areas in the world. Your knowledge and commitment to protecting civilians, promoting peace, and upholding UN values have positively impacted the communities in the areas you were deployed.”
He also praised RDF leadership for consistently preparing well-trained soldiers equipped with modern tools and resources, highlighting Rwanda’s continued role as a key partner in international peacekeeping operations.
Lt. Col. Ndanyuzwe Muzindutsi, commander of RWABAT-2, thanked MINUSCA leadership and the CAR government authorities for their support and cooperation during the mission. He noted that the medals serve as motivation for the troops to continue their duties with courage and dedication.
During their deployment, RWABAT-2 soldiers conducted various operations along the MSR1 highway connecting Bangui to Cameroon, including patrols, convoy escorts, and road clearance, all aimed at maintaining security and facilitating safe travel along this vital corridor.
