Rwanda is participating in the three-day Global Refugee Forum, which opened on 15 December 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The forum brings together UN Member States, humanitarian partners, and affected communities to discuss pressing refugee issues and evaluate progress at national, regional, and global levels.

Rwanda’s delegation is led by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry in charge of Emergency Management, Ngoga Aristarque. The event, convened every four years by the UN Refugee Agency, provides a platform for countries and stakeholders to share innovative solutions, renew commitments, and coordinate collective action to support refugees and the communities hosting them.

Rwanda remains a key host country for refugees in the region, sheltering over 14,000 individuals from countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burundi, and beyond. The government has integrated refugee support into national development programs, covering education, healthcare, employment, financial inclusion, and other services aimed at improving livelihoods.

Through this engagement, Rwanda continues to demonstrate leadership in promoting sustainable solutions for refugees while fostering solidarity and shared responsibility within the international community.
